Both Texas and Georgia are destroying evidence of all maternal mortality, blocking proof that women are dying from abortion bans.

This story has a lot more going on than you think. Especially since Republicans are lying about the public cases.

Republicans don't care if women die from abortion bans — but they don't want you to know about it
Women will keep dying, but the GOP is working hard to destroy the evidence

If you're ever in an establishment that's closing early for water/plumbing reasons, and you're wondering why that means YOU gotta leave, just remember that the people who are here for nine hours today have to pee sometimes, and you would probably like us to wash our hands before we touch your books.

Dr. Oz likes it when kids die of preventable diseases.
Dr Oz, Trump's new CMS boss, during height of covid: "Schools are a very appetizing opportunity. I just saw a nice piece in The Lancet arguing the opening of schools may only cost us 3% in terms of total mortality. Any life lost is a life lost, but that might be a tradeoff some folks would consider"

Direct democracy barely works for choosing pizza toppings, Elon.

(The best idea in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is the genderfluid computer.)
This was literally one of Heinlein’s sillier ideas in Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.

It’s a throw-away line delivered as ironic commentary by Professor Bernardo de la Paz, who even says he’s not certain it’s a good idea.

FFS, ELON. Stop cribbing Heinlein’s worst ideas.

Re today: I'm old enough to have lived through '80s-'90s elections in which self-styled Dem-strategy realists urged candidates to walk away from gay-rights issues to prove Democrats can be "normal." Now they're doing it to trans people. Those strategists are a disease, in media and within the party.

Teen D&D at the library continues apace, and they befriended the giant gorilla miniboss I threw at them in the Casa Bonita basement. They're outgrowing the murderhobo phase. I am so proud. 🥹

Dude on Jeopardy tonight was introduced as a "technology professional." Has a job title ever said less about what the hell someone actually DOES?

Playing D&D with a bunch of young teens is an experience everyone should have at least once, because man the sheer chaos gremlin energy is amazing. We had a teen at a library program whose character is a chicken bard on the run from the authorities for tax evasion and I just.
