If you’re going to have cameras everywhere and fine people for pouring coffee down the drain you can’t then let organised criminals dump hundreds of trucks full of waste in a 150m long disaster and be like “oh, sorry, didn’t see anything, not our problem.”

The great thing about delaying hard decisions is that you never have to make them and it all turns out fine in the end (Ed - pls check).

Courtesy of Christmas playbook – and Liz Truss – here is the absolute worst way to cook roast potatoes you’re ever going to see.

Absolutely do not do what she says: the parboil is essential (and shake them before they go in the oil, which MUST be v hot)

Since the HS2 bat tunnel is back in the news (turns out it may actually kill the bats), time for one more story.

CLAIM: Those on dependent visas "are not adding net to the economy; they are taking away".

Minimum income, annual visa fee & health surcharge are set to ensure precisely the opposite. In fact, many spouse dependents also work, paying tax and NI, on top of those fees. ~AA 4/
