Hey.

Keep your children away from people who think that it’s okay for grown men to have sex with teenage girls.

I hate how puritan culture from ex-vangelicals has poisoned the well for the left
Just saw someone call Mamdani a “Dem op” because Obama called and congratulated him after he won the primary and they chatted for a bit and for the love of god y’all have got to stop being such fucking weirdos.

I dont use AI in my medical documentation or research
I don't use health tracking apps
I don't have genetic testing done routinely on my patients
I wear a mask

All for the same reason: I don't trust that the data can be securely managed, or that it wont be used to target and hurt people.

this is such a depressing misread of why Trumpism wins

American voters aren't drawn to parables

They want an enemy and they want to see that enemy hurt
‘The Bible doesn’t tell us about research studies conducted by Saint Peter. Data is going to lose to parables every time.’ (Paraphrasing)

This is why bizarre bs, rumors, and propaganda from this administration are so effective. And - filling in the blanks -why the responses have been so inadequate.

Got told by my massage therapist yesterday that I was "yoked" XD because my lats apparently are getting big.

I weigh more than I ever have right now and I def am a little chubby but I am also really muscular without doing much formal exercise. Glad to have such an active job.

Im sure this isnt universal but I am amused at the stages of masculinization effects since being on T for over a year now.

I am currently in what I am calling "The Thickening" portion where I have the appetite of a teenage boy but I'm not growing up so I am growing out XD

ok. that's all i've got.

today's democrats aren't who will liberate us in the end, but the folks nearest institutional power are the ones who can, while things are bad, most easily help hold up the falling sky & buy time.

this shit can be both "not enough" & "really matter."

it matters to try.🏳️‍⚧️💜

In addition to antagonizing our allies, halting foreign aid, and destroying higher ed, GOP attacks on US soft power include:

1) halting education/cultural exchange (Fulbright etc)

2) shuttering US-funded media (PBS, Voice of America etc)

3) abandoning global health and climate commitments.

I'm generally on board with pedagogy reforms people have proposed to make learning feel non-punitive. Where I start to feel uncomfortable is the notion that we should be lowering the standard of thinking or writing that's expected from students. I think that is a very scary path to start on.

So… are we going back to blue book essays? I actually did some in-person written exams in undergrad a decade ago. It was fine.
“Massive #s of students are going to emerge... who are essentially illiterate. Both in the literal sense and in the sense of being historically illiterate + having no knowledge of their own culture, much less anyone else’s.”

This isn't the only reason AI is bad, but it's why it is bad for students.

To put a very fine point on it, consider that it was 100 years ago that we have some legislators making it illegal to distribute contaminated bread, and you can imagine what happened to prompt them to do such a thing.

This piece is a bit bleak, but it's a banger.

If we are to meet our critical moment in history, we need to reckon with the reality that we are not up against adversaries we have seen before. We are up against end times fascism. 🧵
