the destruction of chattel slavery is one of the great accomplishments in our nation's history and the reason conservatives hate celebrating it is because doing so legitimizes the black counter-narrative of the united states

wow I wonder if the cops who lied about the sitting senator even though everything they did was on tape are also being less than honest about the presence of violent agitators at the protests in los angeles. they might even not have told the entire truth about other protests

A lot of this "does the left have a model of masculinity"? hand-wringing assumes that there *is* a masculinity that's recognizable as such that is not reducible to an entitlement to dominate and rule over others. I'm not convinced!
May 27, 2025 at 5:49 PM
every time i see someone talking abt the crisis of masculinity or w/e i feel the slightest shred of sympathy, and then i remember the cishet white men being centered in that complaint

oh, you.. feel excluded from society? wow, what a unique phenomenon. surely no one has ever experienced this before
But also, I confess, my sympathy for the Men-Adrift has its limits, because it is not, in fact, impossible for men to live good lives. I know a lot of men happily paired off, with kids and good lives - including some who did not have high educational attainment or inherited wealth.

🚨🚨 Alarming NSF policy update

By accepting an NSF award, an institution now must say it's:

1. Not engaging in boycotts of Israel (yes really)

2. Not advancing or promoting DEI in violation of anti-discrimination laws

"Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants.

Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. Hispanic PIs and those with disabilities were twice as likely to lose a grant."
Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3

A key feature of the original study was replicated: there was no significant difference in accuracy between autistic and non-autistic chains, indicating autistic people are not impaired in information sharing in same neurotype chains

#AutINSAR A3: It seems like most researchers continue to place the burden of change on autistic people instead of building the capacity of communities and service systems to support autistic people in thriving. Very little seems to be meaningfully beneficial to us and people are profiting off it.

I hope you’ll read and share the piece.

1. Use burners/ leave electronics at home.
2. If you take them use a 15 digit passcode, harder to crack.
3. Do not unlock them 1/
