3 of my papers (2 preprints) made the list! Great resource and great for scoping out all that was published last year

Interesting read, although slightly inflammatory and somewhat unsubstantiated claims on the potential for psychedelics to be addictive.
New post: Examining the gap between psychedelic promises and scientific reality. Small, transient effects with major methodological issues don't justify the revolutionary claims. Recreational use? Fine. Mental health miracle? Not so fast. Evidence just isn't there.

New preprint with Philip Gerrans @hohwy.bsky.social and @lenaedibrainz.bsky.social. We propose a neurocognitive model for MDMA-assisted therapy in Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), focusing on the role of the insula in "self-modeling" - how we develop and sustain a coherent sense of self.

Agreed. Michael Inzlicht is a huge inspiration for me. People who are willing to challenge the status quo in any particular field are a hugely important part of scientific and social progress. Always worth interrogating if we are just going along with a fashionable perspective, or.....
As academics we could learn a valuable lesson from brave souls, like @minzlicht.bsky.social, who challenge the status quo. Many of us are happy move in lockstep with our peers, but few will stand up and work to course correct entire fields of study.

This type of science communication raises a few concerns for me. Most generally, and this is a kind of problem I notice in the psychedelic science community more broadly - having a hammer doesn't make everything a nail.

Super stroked this pre-print (link: doi.org/10.31234/osf...) has been accepted for publication in Musicae Scientae, 4 years after we related the preprint. This was a collaboration between 4 graduate students (we are all post docs now) and was a steep learning curve on the publication process!
