Bush was a terrible president but simply impossible to imagine a Republican saying this about Pelosi or anyone else today.

I can’t believe I’m watching interviews of city mayors talking about how they are coordinating with other mayors to discuss how to protect their residents FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

I know we are “used to it” but it is absolutely insane

A bit more race-baiting by the Daily Express.

My cousin's kids have a Bangladeshi father, and they would confuse this journalist by only being able to speak their native languages: Welsh and English.

In a survey in the 1990s, they asked a group of people what level of income a 'super-rate' of tax should start at.

The follow-up question was, "What level of income do you expect to earn in your career?"

And it was invariably lower.

Travelled up to the Smoke today.

It really is becoming a cycling city, which fills me with joy. When I first arrived in London and rode a bike, it was considered an oddball activity.

It was too hot to use the tube today, so I took the bus. Next time, I'll just use a Lime Bike.

The majority of British people: "it was a fuck-up, can we please just move forward and repair as much damage as possible."

A tiny group of very wealthy people and the British media: "Any deviation from Brexit is heresy."

Maybe I'm being unfair, but a trade deal in which the US raises tariffs on the UK and the UK lowers tariffs...

... feels a bit...

one-sided

Quick reminder that those who fought in WW2 also built the welfare state, including the NHS. I think they’d be fairly unhappy with Reform’s plans.

In the 1980s Graydon Carter, then editor of Spy (a magazine that skewered NYC high society), pulled a stunt where they sent tiny cheques to the city’s rich to see who would cash them:

$1.11, 64 cents, 13 cents.

Two people, out of 58, cashed them all. You already know who one of them is.
