One of the tragedies of growing up is it's apparently no longer "socially acceptable" to carry around a cool rock & show it to people you meet.

So I have to respect the Chinese, Korean & Japanese for having a tradition of finding cool rocks & displaying them.

Let's talk about scholar's stones.

And this isn't just the US.

A lot of people don't know that the reputation London had for thick fog was actually soot and particulates and smog from a bunch of coal (and sometimes wood) fires.

Cleaning up the air and water did wonders. We should be *expanding* on that to clean indoor air too.
Literally just lectured about this!

In the late 1960s, air quality was so bad in several cities they had to turn on the street lights during the day so drivers could see. And yeah, the Cuyahoga River was so polluted it literally caught on fire.
Oh, I don’t know. Our rivers no longer catch on fire and our air is far less poisonous than it used to be, even in smog bowls like Los Angeles. And I think those are good things.

Me: Vizier, I need to retire to my conservatory to consider the day's events. Much has happened that requires a reckoning.

Partner: Is that what we're calling 'go to the botanical garden and mutter ominously'?

Me: The cycads know what they did.
yes, this would heal me

! Chuck @schumer.senate.gov asks unanimous consent that the Senate immediately read and pass the bill to release the Epstein files, un-amended, "as soon as it comes over from the House." No objections. Motion succeeds. Bill is deemed to the Senate unanimously, will go to Trump to become law.

The use of AI for things like theoretical "public art" is so interesting, because it shows that there are a lot of people that don't understand what art is for, or indeed the concept of the beautiful. AI cannot produce art because it has no consciouness, no soul, so it can't produce the beautiful.
This mural has gone up in Kingston, ostensibly for Christmas but AI has ensured it's actually to celebrate the return of our dark lord Cthulhu
