Before the 1930s, Santa Claus was depicted many ways in the US — tall, short, thin, stout, also in green or blue. Sundblom’s hugely popular ads codified American Santa, with his jolly rosy face and (Coca-Cola) red outfit.
An ad legend, Sundblom was later hired to redo the Quaker Oats man too.

Coke’s *very specific* Santa was created by painter Haddon Sundblom.
In 1931 Coca-Cola hired Sundblom to create a series of holiday ads. Sundblom drew inspiration from Clement Clarke Moore’s 1823 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” and based Santa’s look on his friend Lou Prentiss.

I love it when artists draw small eyes. So small yet so expressive! How do you do it!?

My family (6) and I are in government housing and rely on SNAP to feed us.
I have a kofi setup where you can get early access to sketches, art, purchase adopts, and coloring pages. Even just purchasing one adopt ensures us electricity.
It's just a $1. Anything helps.

I'm not advocating for violent protests. But I am challenging the naive notion that non-violent resistance can singlehandedly stop what's happening. I know everybody wants to hang on to the notion that it was MLK's tactics alone that people responded to in the 60s. It's just not true.
