The stories of pregnant women in ICE detention — one shackled while miscarrying, another placed in solitary confinement with a high-risk pregnancy — are not one offs.

They're a clear pattern of neglect where ICE ignores its own rules. This cruelty must end.
Pregnant immigrants held for months in detention despite rules against it
With the immigration crackdown, more pregnant women are being detained. The ACLU alleges a woman was shackled while miscarrying and others were denied prenatal care.

The 14th Amendment is as clearly and unambiguously written as any law on the books. Politically it was intended to suppress former Confederates and prevent the conditions that led to the Civil War. To attack it is to give comfort to their heirs and cut into the seams of our society.

The clock has started. 🤞 Hope we make it to another vote.
For decades, right-wing groups have been fighting to access private voter roll information—data they see as critical in their long war to establish unproven claims of rampant voter fraud.

But today, it’s Trump’s Justice Department at the forefront of this mission.
Trump’s DOJ is building a voter purge machine—powered by your private data
The federal agency ordinarily would prevent attacks on voting rights. Now it’s carrying them out.

UPDATE: Another Chicago-area church has put up an immigration-themed Nativity scene.

A church member at Urban Village Church sent this one along, where Mary, Joseph and Jesus are gone and replaced with a sign that reads: “Due to ICE activity in our community, the Holy Family is in hiding.”

When I was younger I looked at what would save me money "right now". And many times these decisions cost me more money in the long run. This is "keeping the poor poorer". As I become more financially secure I started looking at the "long run". Buying solar was one of the decisions. Big hit, save $.
"The action is expected to save consumers about $1,000 off the price of a new car"

So... consumers save a buck off the sticker price of a new car, but in return consumers will pay a lot more in extra fuel consumption than the $1,000 they saved at purchase. This won't save money, it'll cost more.

New in PN: This is what a white supremacist administration looks like

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.
