Maduro was sold out by his own people. They made a deal with Rubi@ to take over when Nicky was gone. Just like Iraq when the Republican Guard made a deal with Bush, only to get screwed and demobilized once Bremer took over.Next comes Xe to occupy the oil fields and unleash hell on the poor peasants

Reminder again that this the 60 Minutes agenda for tonight:

1. Humanoid robot interest story
2 Boom Chicago, an English-language improv theater
3. Alysa Liu interview

It was two years.. er.. weeks ago that they spiked the torture prison story. Spare some thoughts for the death of a network.

Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
Honestly insane they didn't brief the gang of eight until it was underway

Kinda wild to me that Denmark hasn't tried to arrange this yet
A pretty plausible end-point for the Greenland stuff is like: Trump freaks the Danes out, a bunch of other NATO countries, including P5/nuclear armed members like France and the UK, station troops on Greenland to dissuade a US military action, Trump backs down, Denmark expels US from bases there.

There are a hundred more important things to say, and I tried to say some of them in my essay for "Thinking About...", but: invading a country for oil is also just atavistic at this point. Even if it worked, which it won’t, it still wouldn’t work.
Wall Street’s biggest banks made more money financing green projects than they did from working with fossil fuel companies for a fourth straight year, even as they faced ongoing pressure to pull back from the business

The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

A comment on the inclusion of machine gun charges in the Maduro indictment. I laughed and I do think it ridiculous that DOJ included it even while DOJ is suing DC to force it to accept semi-automatic weapons.

It's a traditional charge designed to up sentences.

But Venezuela, nah they can’t have elections yet. Of course not. 🤡🤡🤡🤡
NBC News: “How soon will elections be held in Venezuela? Within 30 days?”

Rubio: “Elections? I think it is premature at this point.”
