Our Vancouver Filipino community suffered a great tragedy yesterday and it is just heartbreaking. My sincere condolences to all those affected. Please be kind to every member of that community, who give so much to Vancouver, as they grieve.

WHY are they doing this?? Is this like Trump’s “you only get Covid cases when you test so let’s stop testing” or is this a push to privatize a free service for profit? Or something I can’t see? Who would know - @wired.com @djrothkopf.bsky.social??
BREAKING from @science.org: The Trump admin is seeking to kill nearly all climate research at NOAA, its climate science agency.

Its near-final budget proposal would end all NOAA research labs, academic institutes, and regional climate centers. And it wants to fully end the NOAA Research division.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

So @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com it seems that if the actual goal (TBD) is to bring manufacturing back to the US then the BEST case scenario is, maybe, a few hundred thousand US jobs. But is that worth crashing the global economy, trillions lost, high US inflation, alienating all allies?

Keep it up @booker.senate.gov!! This rendition is a tragedy that comes from rampant dehumanization by the right wing of people seeking safety. And @timmiller.bsky.social - also keep the rage up on this travesty.
The Trump administration called it an “administrative error.” But that error led to a nightmare for Maryland Resident Abrego Garcia.

Millions of you, around the world, have put the lessons I wrote in #OnTyranny in late 2016 to good use. It has been humbling to learn how from courageous and creative dissenters, protestors, and oppositionists. I was honored when John Lithgow volunteered to read them aloud.
Here is my best guidance for action, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons more than eight years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."
