My obscure obsession when I'm not doing Carbon Literacy and triathlon is making model tanks! Most kids of a certain age dabbled with this in childhood and I revived it during Covid. I keep a blog... tiger.creativeblogs.net/2022/03/16/m...

I wonder how many US citizens understand the extent to which US power and prosperity is based on its current alliances and unswerving support from its allies?

Essential reading. What are the near term consequences of multipolarity?
- A European army in Ukraine?
- The collapse of the UN?
- The end of any meaningful global effort to prevent catastrophic climate change?
‘Trump’s megalomania is transforming the United States from international leader into international pariah, and the American people will suffer the consequences for years to come. ‘

Long piece. Worth every word.

America vs. the World
President Trump wants to return to the 19th century’s international order. He will leave America less prosperous—and the whole world less secure.

First half: 71% possession, 13 shots to 4, 1.84 XG compared to 0.4. 2 nil down obviously. Bullshit RM football. #SaintsFC
January 17, 2026 at 3:54 PM
Now on 65% possession and 11 shots to 3. So, depressingly predictable to be 2-0 down #SaintsFC

60% possession, 8 shots to 2 so we’re a goal down. Obviously. #SaintsFC

I have a feeling that this is a really important week for Mr Eckert. Hugely important to build momentum for next weekend's appointment with the Blue Few. #SaintsFC

At the very least, defection should be a reason to start a recall petition.

@moderngreenery.bsky.social excitement at the Tour coming through Morecambe and Lancaster is huge! I’m getting the band back together.

The nub of the issue right there: geoblocking will only prevent image generation in the UK. The results of racist and CSAM image generation will still be entirely visible and UK subjects will be victims. Nowhere near good enough. @lizzicollinge.bsky.social how will UK legislation prevent this?
But this is a big gap, no? It will frustrate British users who want to commit this crime, but it won’t prevent British people from being the victim of it.

The creation of it (as opposed to sharing which is already illegal) is already in the legislation we're putting through and we're going as fast as possible to make sure all legislation is watertight.

@lizzicollinge.bsky.social please get on top of this issue.
"Complying to UK law" still allows you to create the same type of imagery. I was easily able to make a prompt from AI generated picture of a full dressed woman I uploaded to Grok to a woman bound, nearly fully naked, and bleeding in about 2 minutes, and I'm in the UK.

I stopped using X in November 2024 over its failure to tackle abuse, hate & illegal content.

X is monetising sexual abuse, it must stop now. Ofcom is right to investigate, but while it does, access to X & Grok must be immediately restricted. Every delay risks more victims.

Everything wrong with #carlife - Building transportation that should work for the travelers over 75-years old. Henry Ford was 83 when he died, it's all his fault.

An honest way to show the cost of the transition to green energy and transport would be to compare the costs of transition with the costs of maintaining the existing fossil fuel infrastructure. The Mail/Torygraph etc do not do that, they only show one side of the balance sheet.
