Today I went to plant my cross in the Garden of Remembrance in Parliament, alongside Captain John Ledgister of the 39th Signal Regiment.

We honoured all those who have fought and died for our country, defending our democratic freedoms.

The sacrifice they made should never be forgotten.
Today is Armistice Day — a day to commemorate the end of World War 1 and honour all those who have fought to protect our country and freedom.

We must never forget the sacrifices so many made for us.

We will remember them.

It’s unacceptable that the same safety failings keep happening in mental health care.

When warnings are ignored and lessons aren’t learned from the past, lives are put at risk.

Patients deserve safety, compassion, and accountability, not repeated mistakes.

The BBC isn’t perfect, but it is a key institution in protecting our democracy by delivering scrutiny, accountability & truth in an era of increasingly populist politics.

Now, more than ever, the BBC must rebuild trust. And we must all defend a free press, free speech, and an independent BBC.

Over 189,000 people some sleeping rough, sofa surfing, or living in tents were left out of official homelessness figures.

Homelessness is a national crisis—far worse than reported.

Charities like Julian House in Bath work tirelessly to help, but they can’t do it alone. The Government must act now.
Homelessness figures higher than data suggests, research shows

It’s appalling that under this Government millions of pounds are still being funnelled into Putin’s war chest through UK trade.

Putin must be punished for his barbaric war, not rewarded.

Great to get an update on this exciting project which will further embed our city as a cultural destination, with real significance to our regional economy.

In a cost of living crisis & climate emergency, why is the Government planning to tax EV owners?

Ministers should expand charging points & exempt EV bays from business rates until the UK car market is fully electric.

The Government should be driving the green transition, not putting up roadblocks.
Electric car drivers could face new pay-per-mile tax from 2028 under Treasury plans
Chancellor Rachel Reeves could be set to announce new EV levy that would cost average EV driver £279 a year

Over the past decade, unanswered HMRC calls left 17,000 people a day on average without help.

Pensioners, often less able to access online support & with the state pension now just £22 below the income tax threshold, need urgent help.

The Government must act & launch a “Retiree Red Phone” hotline.

As a university city, Bath has seen a huge rise in HMOs.
This is putting strain on local communities & deepening the housing crisis.

I welcome @bathnes.bsky.social work to limit the impact of HMOs, including the existing 10% cap on conversions in certain areas.

We must protect family homes.

The UK was instrumental in creating the ECHR.

Now the Council of Europe is ready to reform it we should be leading that conversation, not walking away from it.

Leaving the ECHR now would be a profound mistake.

Currently, gum brands can hide behind the vague term “gum base” instead of admitting their products contain plastic. I’m campaigning in Parliament to make it mandatory to list plastic as an ingredient on gum packaging.

Great to see Prof Chris Pudney & the @uniofbath.bsky.social team in Parliament. They made the shocking discovery that many vapes used by school children are laced with the dangerous drug Spice.

I’ll keep raising awareness & urging the Government to crack down on the online sale of these vapes.

Behind every unanswered call is a person left without help.

I've heard this first-hand from many of my constituents who have told me how they found themselves in desperate situations unable to get through to HMRC.

It's a disgrace, but we @libdems.org.uk have a plan to tackle it. 👇
