This is one thing that makes me feel better about all the insane shit going on in this world. The nearly irrefutable evidence that people who are like this are (at least partially) like this because they have never once known love and are completely empty inside.

I understand, as well as anyone, why folks are cynical about #SCOTUS. But even from the conservative justices' perspective, the birthright citizenship case is easy. And the Justice Department knows it, too; as I wrote in September, its bevavior in these cases has just been going through the motions:

I was ranting about LLM generative AI to my wife last night and described its method of "generating content" as something akin to "digital baleen"...it just sort of sucks up all the content it can, filters out what *seems* right or good, and then vomits out a meaningless pastiche.

I think a lot of people who try to prognosticate about worst case scenarios re: SCOTUS decisions et al underestimate the degree to which, even the most vile and contemptible fed soc guys understand that at its heart, any judicial system is just words on a piece of paper.
