Words worthy of a billboard campaign. Stop trying to technofix absolutely everything already- you just can't.
Paraphrasing @wolvendamien.bsky.social, et al:

YOU CAN'T TECHNOFIX YOUR WAY OUT OF A MATERIAL BELIEF AND SOCIAL VALUES ISSUE.

And medicine and "healing" are often deployed as technofixes.
People just need to understand that "healthcare"/medicine is not an instant solve for the complexities of being disabled in an ableist society. Crip tax is real, even with universal healthcare.

Over 12K a year extra to live. in a country with so-called universal healthcare Have a source with data

The DOGE lackey that Elon Musk installed as Acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration is making moves to fire HALF of the workforce at the Social Security Administration.

The SSA is already chronically understaffed, this mass firing would DEVASTATE Social Security.

Bernie's Social Security Expansion Act would fix that, and use the money to protect + expand benefits!

Don’t lose hope. Remember, Watergate took over two years to fully unravel from the initial break-in to Nixon’s resignation. Just like then and now, Americans are losing faith in their government. We are documenting every illegal action and will hold this administration and Elon Musk accountable.

Military says "Nah, we good," to orders that they discriminate against transgender servicemembers.

Add to this that Pete Hegseth got booed by military families, and we may be seeing something really importantly good happening, here.

I sort of missed this had nearly 1k reposts/quotes (because I muted it). Here's the gist:

1) It's a lawsuit to say gender dysphoria is not a protected disability under 504 so please exclude it
2) But, say the GOP AGs, if you'd like to just dump 504, that'd be swell too. Even better really.

AskJan is apparently a service of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy.

They just deleted the accommodations page for #LongCOVID. The information is all on the Wayback, but it needs to be an official source for people to use it.

OK, I wrote my “who’s going to enforce it?” piece. It’s a lengthy read, trying to respond to a lot of questions I’ve gotten over the past three weeks, but it’s about democracy so I decided it was worth it to lay out in depth, with examples, what I’ve been talking about here and elsewhere.
Don't let Donald Trump and Elon Musk talk us out of democracy
Trump and Musk are testing the limits, trying to sell America on being an authoritarian state — but they can’t do it unless we allow them to do so.

No surprises there
Kristen Grind, my San Franciso-based NYT colleague, and I went through every federal investigation/lawsuit targeting Musk companies. What did we find? At least 11 federal agencies targeting Musk companies have seen leadership disruptions/changes that could undermine these efforts -- and benefit Musk

I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to call this a coup- not comfortable w rhetorical invocations of war. Such attitudes got us into this mess. Why can’t humans just be chill?

General strikes are under utilized
How much more shitty should we let things get before a General Strike is appropriate? I'll never forget how the Day Without Immigrants protest on February 16, 2017 ground my neighborhood in Chicago to a halt. Polish roofers stopped working on my roof. You couldn't eat anything worth eating.
