The fight tonight was over about $25 billion. Thats about 2.5% of the Defense budget. Would cover a year of the enhanced ACA credits. Republicans said that’s unaffordable.

I agree with @stevevladeck.bsky.social. But I never would have understood this without his explanation. Thanks!
If you’re trying to catch up on what went down with #SNAP late last night at #SCOTUS, here’s my attempt to read the breadcrumbs on the “administrative stay” issued by Justice Jackson—and why a justice so critical of the Court’s grants of emergency relief to Trump still granted temporary relief here:
190. SNAP WTF?
A very quick explainer on why Justice Jackson issued an "administrative stay" in the SNAP case late on Friday night, and on what's likely to happen next

I have somehow never read Breakfast of Champions and holy hell in three pages Vonnegut sums it all up - colonialism, racism, income inequality, and a guy who owns a car dealership who reads a scifi novel and takes away the wrong idea

A huge loss of brilliant thinkers and writers. I loved Teen Vogue. I haven't been a teen for a very long time, but the quality of the reporting made me a subscriber.
if you want to know what happened to Teen Vogue yesterday, my work wife @allegrak.bsky.social — who ran our politics section for 6 years until this past June — said it all in this.
can't even pull out a favorite part til I sign my separation letter lol, just read the whole thing.

We raised our daughter in NYC. Over the years, her friends spoke English, French, Haitian Creole, Spanish, German, Javanese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Farsi, Hebrew, Klingon (basic), Latin (high achievers) & Ancient Greek (off the charts).

I had a case where the bad thing happened between 1 am and 2 am on the day the time changed in the fall.
But that hour repeated when the time fell back at 2 am. So I had to clarify whether they were there at the first 1:30 am or the second one.
Just stay in tonight, please.
