Hi folks! This is a public account for me to connect with others who have similar lived experience.

I am a peer recovery professional. That means that I'm a person in recovery who uses my lived experience to support others.

Looking forward to getting to know you all :)

We're founded and led by homeschool alumni and those experiences guide our work. If you are an alumni, consider joining us for a December focus group - you’ll be the first to hear about our new legislative and research work and we want to hear what you think is important too. tinyurl.com/CRHEAlumni

Reposting as its own post:

Just a heads up for anyone who's interested in reading more of my writing: I am moving away from substack. I'll make a post on there when I officially make the transition. Hopefully my very own website that I own is in the future!

Thank you for covering this. This whole situation is just tragic and breaks my heart.
The CT legislature held a hearing afterwards, where the usual mobbing by Homeschoolers quickly shut down any thought as to what is perpetuated in their movement. While most of the hearing was monopolized by the lobby, @healingkind.bsky.social presented his testimony here to the state legislature
New post on my substack. It's a vulnerable one and I'm proud of it!

As far as I am aware, in the history of homeschooling, this is the first public workshop and roundtable on abuse prevention hosted by a state homeschool organization and featuring a homeschool alum:

extremely fking weird to yell about “lockdown harms kids” while locking your kids in the basement and only letting them out to go to church

I've been thinking about this thread a lot lately. I used to really buy into this. I loved debate. But it was never a place where I was allowed to have my own opinion.

I'm feeling more and more uncomfortable using social media at all lately. Sad to hear this site is more of the same. I thought we might have something different.

Okay I gotta say something. I can no longer stay silent.

Simplicity by @mattielubchansky.com was a great read! The art style was fun, the story was delightfully weird and sweet, and the message was very heartfelt. I only wish it had lasted me a little longer.

A reminder that multiple cybersecurity experts were consulted and all said they saw ZERO indication that scammers were targeting Palestinian mutual aid/donation fundraisers.

It’s just assholes and racists, acting like racist assholes as they condemn Gazans to death for “clogging their timeline”
Just stop being assholes I swear

My life is better than it was 5 years ago! I'm glad I stuck around :)
Ok. It feels like quite literally everything is worse than it was 5 years ago. Products, commercials, the world etc.

So I ask: what are you experiencing that you feel is better than it was 5 years ago?

The worst part about the news about the national guard being deployed to DC is that I was raised evangelical Christian and surrounded by folks who loudly declared they would fight back against tyranny and a government who used force against its own people. Those people are absolutely silent rn.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

I need to find something other than substack to host my blog and I've wanted a website for a while. Anyone got any recommendations on how to go about this with minimal experience?
