The case for a stock trading ban
After becoming a congressional leader, a politician’s stock portfolio beats out those of peers by 47 (!!!) percentage points a year through trades timed around bills and firms that later get government contracts

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

Show what measles looks like.

This piece hit hard for me, as it tracks with why my daughter stopped playing soccer at recess. The boys wouldn't let the girls play with them--only against them and with fewer players. But when girls scored anyway, some boys would cheat and play to hurt the girls, to the point where it wasn't fun.
"the issue isn’t that we need more 'boy-friendly' reforms. It’s that boys are socialized to compete only with boys and to read girls’ success as illegitimate or emasculating. The result is dissonance, resentment, and disengagement for boys—and hostile climates for girls."

Fun fact: the voice of Franklin the Turtle in the cartoons is Noah Reid, the guy who played Patrick in Schitt’s Creek. So not only is Hegseth disrespecting Franklin, he’s basically disrespecting David Rose’s husband, which I cannot abide.

For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Sure but harp seals are part of the ecosystem and naturally eat those fish? What are we doing here?
Are harp seals responsible for the stalled recovery of Atlantic cod?
Since Atlantic cod fisheries collapsed in the early 1990s, ecosystems have been less productive and have struggled to recover.

That's the thing, Miller is absolutely the lowest hanging fruit here because he has no friends, freaks people out, and also (importantly) ordered a bunch of criminal human rights abuses.

If you're trying to look tough as a Dem in a post-Trump era, he'd be the logical place to start.
Right, Kissinger was respected by some sectors, and at least politely tolerated by others. I don’t think anyone who’s not working in the WH cares for Miller: I’d almost think he would be the big fall guy if things go real south for Trump
