🚨28th August is the 1st day back at school, and the 1st day of indefinite strike action by school secretaries & caretakers.

The Dept of Public Expenditure can avoid this by doing the right thing.

Secretaries and caretakers deserve public service pensions. And everyone knows it.
From the 28 August, school caretakers & secretaries will be on strike for pension parity.

David (caretaker) explains what the 1st day of school means to them & why they're at this point.

The chaos can be avoided, but only if the Dept of Public Expenditure does the right thing.

It's important to acknowledge when we discuss why a minority of young men are attracted to the radical right that part of the answer is "they're obnoxious".

It's not all about being dispossessed and left behind it's also twats.

This should make people stand up & take notice.

Super majority ballot result on a super majority turnout. It can be done 💪🏻
⚡️98% of school secretaries & caretakers in favour of indefinite strike!⚡️

81.7% turnout in the ballot for public service pensions. Well done to union members for an overwhelming mandate to take this fight all the way.

Strong. United. Determined. There’ll be no stopping them!

In case you're wondering, authoritarians use this strategy of escalation to manufacture crisis, provoke outrage, then use the reaction to justify repression. It’s not about restoring order, it's about creating a spectacle of chaos they can claim only they can control.
Escalating to escalate.

The 🇮🇪 government needs to change direction now.

🧵 The RTÉ Investigates (@news.rte.ie) doc airing tonight will expose shocking conditions in Emeis-run nursing homes in Ireland.

#Emeis will say it’s not the norm. We know it is.

EPSU has seen the same pattern across Europe for years. We’re horrified, but not surprised.
