I dont think Starmer is going to survive the week. I don't have any sympathy because he was buried under his own factional hubris and political stupidity.

A fun game of “who is in the messages they’re now being forced to release saying some absolutely appalling things”, perhaps. We’ve already seen these lads aren’t cautious about speaking their minds.

Morgan McSweeney does deserve some credit for helping to show the world that Blairite neoliberal privatisation politics is as dead as Blair's friend; Jeffrey Epstein.

NEW: Hearing that Starmer is considering making Vidhya Alakeson and Jill Cuthbertson, Morgan McSweeney's deputies, his joint chiefs of staff.

This series of articles by Peter Oborne is so spot on - withering about McSweeney - and his obsessive focus on party politics, scheming and tactics, at expense of policy conducive to the national interest - and in process ultimately ruining Starmer’s govt.

The lads diplomatically explain that if McSweeney goes, Starmer has to go too. I’ll explain why, more bluntly: this project minus Mandelson and McSweeney is like The Scooby Doo Show, without Shaggy and Scooby. Nobody thinks Scrappy Doo is the star.

Just occurred to me that Faiza Shaheen was almost certainly stopped from standing for election on the say-so of one of Epstein’s inner circle. As were many other excellent left-wing candidates.

Every one of Labour’s 2024 intake is tainted by this. Morally, they should all stand down.
The MPs who will choose the next Prime Minister once Starmer inevitably resigns were hand-picked by friend of Jeffrey Epstein, the serially disgraced Peter Mandelson.

Expect them to force Mandelson's protege Wes Streeting on us.

I thought that Starmer would hang on till the locals but now I think he will be gone way before...
🚨 NEW: The Government is set to back down and allow the Intelligence Security Committee to oversee the release of the Peter Mandelson's vetting documents

It follows a major backlash from Labour MPs, including Angela Rayner

One has to wonder now how much this was driven by his desire to do the billionaires a solid and sink the left-led Labour Party vs how much guaranteeing a hard Brexit would benefit his financier chums.
(3)Under Mandelson and his allies, the "People's Vote" opposed Parliamentary motions for 'soft Brexit' , under the no-compromise "Last Man Standing" policy - to keep this fairly phony campaign going they risked, and helped cause, the harder Brexit www.buzzfeed.com/alexwickham/...

YEEEEEES. As a huge fan of both horror and romance, explain to me how "tormented or quirky detective solves a crime" is less of a trope than a final girl, or enemies to lovers. And I like those shows!
The assumption that all romance is trash for dumb people who like formulas -- that's still a thing in TV & film. A big thing. Also, like, I'm sorry, but a middle or upper class man is an asshole and is doing crimes or solving crimes? That's not a genre? MORE formulaic than a romance? HILARIOUS

I just want to remind people that when we talk about creating a "British ICE" and a concentration camp as somehow copying America, we already had the previous Tory government set up a concentration camp run by British military personnel for asylum seekers rapidly shut down after legal battles.
The UK version of “Project 2025” by the Reform party includes a British ICE, a concentration camp for 24,000 people, mass surveillance and withdrawing from refugee, anti-torture and anti-trafficking conventions.

It’s on their website. That’s how comfortable fascists are in the UK today.
