I'm a Welshish emerging writer & wellbeing facilitator. I like queer joy, dark humour & conversations that start 'omg did you know...'. Here's a pic of my bio & another of me on my hols. Let's chat.

regardless of today’s outcome, it is morally indefensible to have a court ruling on something that affects a population, using evidence and findings that did not consult a single member of that population.

For #WorldTheatreDay, here's something I wrote a while ago.

Originally commissioned by Culture Counts and Equal Media and Culture Centre for Scotland, with support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, it was written in response to the theme 'Dreaming of a Fairer Future for Culture'.

Part 1 of 2.

Please do also *pay* people to do 'EDI'/inclusion roles! Diversity at trustee level is crucial, but just seemingly prioritising diverse insight in unpaid positions is shallow & often abandons critical viewpoints from folk who sit at the intersection between working class & other marginalised groups.

As a playwright on the new writing scene, you see a lot of this:

“ Submission MUST be unpublished, previously unproduced and a world premiere.

Fee: this is an unpaid opportunity. “

BREAKING: Yuval Abraham, co-director of Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land," says Israeli settlers beat his co-director Hamdan Ballal, injuring his head and stomach — and then Israeli soldiers invaded the ambulance he was in and seized him.

Ballal's whereabouts are now unknown.

A gentle reminder that putting age limits on opportunities for 'emerging' artists is, among other things, super fucking classist.

Didn't cry. Went dead well. Rewarded self with 6 pack of welsh cakes on train home. Now might cry due to sugar crash.
I was commissioned by Culture Counts to write something responding to the theme 'dreaming of a fairer future for culture', which I'll be reading at their core members meeting next week.

It'll be my first time reading work aloud & I'm genuinely worried I'm going to ruin my whole ~vibe~ by crying.

Hi quick question what the fuck is this headline?

Not to be that dickhead, but I wrote & proposed a policy regarding this YEARS ago and the theatre I was working with at the time said it was unnecessary. It isn't.

Platforming marginalised people without centring their safety & wellbeing isn't inclusive - it's performative. We can do better, pals.
@equityuk.bsky.social has called for protective measures against the harassment of gender-marginalised people in the performing arts travelling at night.

Travelling alone? @strutsafe.bsky.social will stay on the phone with you until your destination.

Honestly a bit grossed out by the 'you/ your loved ones could become disabled, so we should care about disability rights' posts, you know. We should care about disability rights because there *are* disabled people. That should be all it takes.

One of those days where self care looks like me pressing my face into my dog's face & muttering 'you've no idea, do you? You don't even know what the word budget means. You don't know what countries or genders are or anything. You're so lucky. I wish I was you. Don't ever die.' while she just:

Just begging theatre orgs to commit to ringfencing a percentage of programming funds to commission writers who otherwise simply cannot afford to write.

The canon can't always fire backwards, babe. Show faith in your contemporary community.

Ok buckle up, rant incoming. I am very tired of organisations, big and small, talking endlessly about our industry and how we can make it fairer, better, not as mental health damaging and then adapting the same old shite practices we've had for over a decade now. Some examples:

Recently had an interview not go my way, which is fine, but I did *so* much work & thinking in prep that I can't let go of. So, if any theatres are interested in evolving from being allies to accomplices & want to discuss researching & embedding ethical systems for authentic theatre-making: HELLO!

In London and fresh out of a meeting with the two excellent production houses who are working on making the TV show I'm writing. And it's not raining! And I'm off to meet my love for coffee! A really joyful pinch me moment, in amongst all the really horrifying pinch me moments we must fight against.
