And studies after studies have found that immigrants and refugees are much less likely to commit crimes compared to US citizens.

Regardless of how you feel about the shooter, this is an example of a ridiculous criminal prosecution. Many victim advocates can tell you that a statement like this (without any associated conducts) is not even enough for a protection order.
A Florida woman was charged Tuesday after police said she ended a call with BlueCross BlueShield with the words, “Delay, Deny, Depose. You people are next.”
She was charged with threats to conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, and her bond was set at $100,000.
