NEW: ICE’s failure to pay its bills for months has caused some medical providers to deny services to ICE detainees.

In lawsuits, numerous detainees with severe illnesses allege that they cannot obtain treatment, including a man whose symptoms and test results suggest he has prostate cancer.

Despite ample funding, the agency halted payments in October. They may not resume for several months.

The Insurrection Act in no way whatsoever suspends, closes, or bypasses the courts. It is not a suspension of habeas corpus. It is not martial law. It does not authorize rule by decree. It allows using troops for law enforcement but that's it. It's not an instant dictatorship switch.
Trump on the Insurrection Act: "It does make life a lot easier. You don't through the court system. It's just a much easier thing to do."

As long as Republican voters continue to support the way Trump has conducted U.S. foreign policy, there’s little reason to believe that Republican members of Congress will push back on the president.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

The big problem with relying on new laws to restrict what ICE can or can't do is that there are already laws that they're flagrantly disregarding. If there's no accountability for cold blooded murder, then why would there be for illegally wearing a mask?

Judge David Novak, a Trump appointee, says Halligan has "no legal basis" to hold the position.

The incredibly lukewarm Democratic response on Greenland is being noticed in Europe, incidentally.

Chuck Schumer not finding a stronger word than “quixotic” for Trump’s plan to seize Greenland has been name checked to me more than once.
But Americans who want to save the alliance with Europe must have no illusions about how bad a condition this transatlantic partnership is in.

But none of them has the balls to do it.
