Well done to Royal Mail for informing me via text they were about to deliver a package that actually arrived 3 days ago. The doctor moonlighting again?

Right, but the other major party is somewhere to right of Idi Amin? This isn't a morally or intellectually serious position!
I'm a Blairite! You fight for the ground between the two main parties rather than trying to appease Zack Polanski

The "left", however you define them, are a significant chunk of society. Politicians and journalists, who insist they are particularly qualified to define society, are not.
People will tell you that the left has lost touch with society, but the expected next tory leader is nostalgic for football hooliganism, and the political editor of the Express is calling for MPs to be deported.

Decades after the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters, can politicians please not second-guess expert safety assessments for football stadiums.

Thank you.

Exactly my thoughts watching that first half. Arsenal players are just hurting their own chances with all their diving. #LFC
Quick tip #Arsenal: stop diving. You perhaps would have had a penalty and maybe challenged for the header to stop the goal - instead your players relied on throwing themselves dramatically to the floor. Not a strategy that's working for you.

var was designed to be a sticking plaster to the problem that people can't grow up and accept sometimes decisions will go against their team. we're never going to fix this as long as that is the real issue.

Newcastle don't score if Gabriel doesn't dive.

Arsenal their own worst enemy with their shithousery, even when playing really well.

I feel like I post about this every year, but it would be useful if the media explained that it is not, in fact, easy to immigrate to this country, to get a national insurance number, to get indefinite leave to remain, to get citizenship. It is, in fact, already very difficult.

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.
“Wikipedia is this economic anomaly. In many ways, it’s sort of magical that people will just volunteer without explicit economic incentives to create artifacts that are meant to share knowledge with everyone in the world”

The BBC releasing podcasts early within the Sounds app before they add them to the wider feeds is a betrayal of what the BBC should be about.

Private Finance Initiatives (PFI) is one of the biggest cons created by Tories, expanded by Labour.

For every £1 of private investment in public assets govt repays £6, resulting in higher debt/taxes.

Cheaper for govt to borrow or it can create money

But govt is reviving PFI. Must change policy.
Why the reshuffle alone won’t change the government’s fortunes
"For better electoral fortunes, the government needs to junk neoliberal policies, never-ending austerity; directly invest in infrastructure and redistribute income and wealth."

I’m sure the right free speech drum bangers will be outraged at this right? Right?
The day hasn't started very well in this country where freedom of speech and association are alive and well. Apparently, recording a podcast calling for someone to shoot the PM is Ok, but projecting an image of two fully clothed men is malicious communication www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

The UK Reform party was originally the UK independence party, then the Brexit party. The Brexit party promised Brexit would fix everything. It made things way worse, so they could not survive that and had to rename themselves, to deflect away from 'Europe=Bad' to "immigrants=Bad".

Unless the foul has rendered them physically incapable of doing so, the player who was fouled to draw the free kick/penalty should be the player to take it. The idea is to continue play as if the foul had not occurred, not to get your dead ball specialist on the ball who was 40yds away at the time.
Everybody should absolutely view this as an invitation to drop your spiciest soccer takes.
