Random question: I have a vague recollection of an American short story about immigrants who bring their gods with them. By a female author, maybe early 20th century? (I realise this is also the plot of the novel American Gods). Does anyone have a title or author for this? Or am I hallucinating it?

Please do this if you did not long ago. Delete everything. Agree to nothing. The people who run this going concern despise academics, are likely very illiquid right now, & will show now compunction about selling all your data, as their revised user agreement makes clear.
In addition to cancelling your Disney accounts, now is also a great time to delete academia.edu
