We are doing this. Our governments. Our taxes. Our arms sales.

This is our Holocaust. Our Cambodian killing fields. Our Balkans. Our Rwandan genocide.

We are doing this and history will never forgive us.

This @cwodtke.bsky.social piece is great — technically fluent, well-sourced, doesn’t mince words about the lies & bullshit from the companies making this stuff. I’m not personally as conciliatory about some of the capabilities promised, but it’s well worth a read. cwodtke.medium.com/i-love-gener...

Oh the prescient and righteous critiques of the only Black woman on the court “test her colleagues’ patience”? Hmmm gosh, wonder what’s going on there…
The claim that her opinions have tested “her colleagues’ patience” strikes me as a form of what I have called “elite victimization.” The Court’s majority has made a series of radically extremist decisions—taking away a Constitutional right, offering Trump seemingly unlimited immunity etc.

The Black Death wiped out 40% of the population of Europe, but it also led to significantly higher wages within a generation. Could Trump's megabill have the same effect here in America?

Step 1: deporting undocumented people
Step 2: changing status of documented immigrants to make them undocumented & then deporting them
Step 3: Denaturalizing naturalized immigrants to deport them
Step 4: Denaturalizing birthright citizens to "deport" them
Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

The bill the Senate is voting on right now would reduce US power generation through 2035 by 300GW, raise wholesale & retail power prices, increase household energy costs, reduce national GDP, & kill 100s of 1000s of jobs.

I mean, this isn't "public grocery store" bad, but it's pretty bad!

Unironically the thing I love about this point, is that it's a great basis to start talking to y'all about the fact that most of the people in jail in the US are just as innocent as Khalil. Many are Black folk that have been arrested with *absolutely no basis*, but wait *over a year* to see a judge.
The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.

From ICE Detention
Khalil’s arrest was the first in a string of abductions that expanded into a much larger operation against pro-Palestine international students.
