Dad, DIYer, dog owner. I teach supply chain, service operations, quant modeling, and other stuff in a business school. I probably read too much news. And I don’t monoski enough.

This is what I posted about last night! @gwerker.bsky.social went to get seder food & wine last night, only to discover Manischewitz is made in the USA and therefore wholly unavailable in the province of BC! He brought home a sweet (literally) red called Jam Jar but it's not gross in the same way.
That's going too far.

Biking home from campus there was a car in the bike lane (pulled over looking at his phone). Rather than enter traffic, I slowed down and went in the gravel shoulder. Was annoyed; kept going. Three minutes later a car slows down next to me and the driver shouts, "So sorry! I blocked you back there!"

Purely hypothetical question: If you’re the leader of a large, sparsely-populated northern democracy, and you’ve lost the confidence of most of the country and much of your own party, and your finance minister jumped ship because you gave her zero support, should you step aside today or tomorrow?

OK, Bluesky question: How do I keep all the news sources in my list, but have a way to toggle those off when I just want to see other stuff? Any tips?

Also, Cedar says hi.

Had a wonderful email exchange with a friend about the intersections of anti-Black racism and antisemitism and challenges on university campuses. A much needed reminder of the importance of dialogue, listening to other perspectives, and sharing values even if not reaching the same conclusions.
