It's my birthday, so have a present. SLIPPERY CREATURES (Will Darling Adventures book 1) is going on cheap over the weekend. 1920s pulp adventure m/m romance with plots, spies, Bright Young People, and emotional support knife, all for 99p!
THIS is the part of the 'merit' debate that I cannot believe people are so comfortable saying out loud. And the response to "why do you think diverse authors' work is inferior" is often "if it weren't, it would be getting cited". It's an infuriating lack of systemic understanding at best.
Note also that people keep reading "cite diverse authors" as "cite inferior and inappropriate authors". Really giving away their biases there...

While there may be some bots over there fueling the fire, and while there's certainly a likely bias connected to who's left on twitter these days, I promise that this is still a loud debate in academic spaces.
People on twitter are losing their minds over this, including several scientists who I have to assume have either brain poisoned themselves or were always like this. People don't always cite what's best; they cite what they know & researchers from historically excluded communities get the short end.

So a family member died unexpectedly & left behind this sweet girl, who’s now on a 5day hold at a shelter in Eugene OR. I need to get her to Portland Maine to adopt her.
