If the U.S. had an opposition party that opposition party would have a bill rolling back these tariffs and radically reducing executive discretion over tariffs already written and would be targeting individual republican congresspeople to pressure them into voting for the bill
Reminder that Congress could, at any time, pass legislation canceling these tariffs and then vote to override a veto.

As prices rise and your 401(k) falls, don't let lawmakers get away with acting like powerless observers of the onslaught. Together they can kill it if they want.

On the tariffs @strangeloopcanon.com over at the other place has pretty convincing evidence that the White House may have used LLMs to come up with its tariff model and that that evidence may have come from LLM scraping of a Peter Navarro book. We are in the dumbest AI timeline.

He's actually doing it. Consolidating all payments under the Tsy.

Not to toot my own horn too much, but this is exactly what my paper is trying to address and oppose.

We need a strong digital fisc vision to counter this.

To give a sense of how much money this is: according to CBO in 2023, non-defense discretionary spending was $917B. So the cost of running the entire federal govt, aside from SocSec, Medicare, Medicaid & defense was $917B. And in six weeks DOGE lit $500B on fire.
So look at that. DOGE has cost the US Treasury fucking half a trillion dollars. HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS. This is your cost savings.
To review what we from @washingtonpost.com are reporting out of the IRS today:

- Projected tax revenue this year is down 10% ($500 billion) as Trump's downsizing is emboldening tax cheats

- IRS is nearing an agreement with ICE to assist on mass deportations

No, it will not do any of that, because it won’t pass and you’re well aware of that simple obvious fact.

A lawless coup is under way and Democrats are still trying to play by the rules. Rules that no longer mean shit.
House Democrats have just introduced the Taxpayer Data Protection Act.

I'm a little bit astounded at how quickly we've reached the 'people in south Africa have been treated unfairly because of their skin colour. No, the other ones' stage of the crapocalypse.
Trump has ordered federal agencies to prioritise humanitarian relief and admission to the United States for white Afrikaner refugees from South Africa.

You know, that poor, victimised minority.

Trump just issued an executive order titled: ADDRESSING EGREGIOUS ACTIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

It says "the United States shall promote the resettlement of Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation"

NEWS: Remaining USAID staffers are now receiving notices en masse that they're being placed on administrative leave.

Notice comes from Pete Marocco, who, via Marco Rubio (confirmed 99-0 by the Senate), has been authorized to oversee the agency.
