My mission is to write clearly and affirmatively.

It's common to use metaphor and imagery, which is fine, but it can lead to misunderstanding. Overuse is obfuscatory, excessive use is a red flag of intentional bullshitting.

But I get it, a lot of folk are reluctant to say what they really mean.
Significantly-sub-optimal improvement is much better than enthusiastically-active destruction.
Not exactly: as I write in Saving Ourselves, the incrementalism of the Democratic Party and their all-of-the above energy policy is highly problematic. But that is categorically different from climate denial in action in the US under Trump. cup.columbia.edu/book/saving-...

It appears impossible to justify bombing the Venezuelan boats

Not only is the legal basis tenuous (we all know how well the “I was just following orders” defense goes)

The evidence that people in the boats are engaged in crimes is shaky as well

Exactly how was the shutdown helping?

Something the "Dems Folded!" crowd doesn't explain..
Interesting how ICE flights weren't impacted by the shutdown. Just commercial flights. Yet we had to end the shutdown for the airlines?

Sure, Jan.

And the mainstream media put a business halo on him and have been fluffing him ever since.

"Let That Sink In" TOO.

(God how I hate that phrase)
America's most notorious child rapist, Jeffrey Epstein, said this man was the worst person he'd ever met. Let that sink in.

In Virginia Giuffre's book, there is a very suspicious line that I cant stop thinking about. She is in the middle of telling part of her story and then something like "only Trump distanced himself from Epstein, no one else and didn't allow him back to Mara lago." And then back to her story.

Early in his first term it seemed pretty clear, to me anyway, that Trump had laundered money for Russian oligarchs via cash transactions on his real estate.

One of his sons kinda gave it away.

And for that service Trump received..
The Kremlin disguised a nearly $100 mn payment to Trump in the form of a brokered real estate deal... and both Jeffrey Epstein and William Pulte were involved in the deal. That's very interesting.

"Etch a Sketch" in the sky.
One pilot in Canada took to the skies for a #RemembranceDay tribute. Dimitri Neonakis has a history of special sky art in Canada, most recently a flight path supporting the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series. See www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraf... for playback of this flight and others.

Tempers are way too high, self righteousness abounds.

What are the worst possible consequences of continued shutdown? That's one question I don't see asked enough, much less answered. I just see rage.

I've been so damn annoyed by the lib/left chorus of "Dems backstabbed us all!"
While upset with Senate Dems continues, this is an important reminder that it is Donald Trump who decimated medicaid & ended the ACA subsidies and it is Donald Trump who will do whatever it takes to decimate, if not completely destroy, the ACA.
Why is Trump going after America's air traffic controllers, today of all days?

It's one more way to distract from his decision to increase your health insurance premiums."

This seems important.

Also, re Mamdani's win. Money decides elections until it doesn't. When people really want a candidate, no amount of advertising can stop them.

The Saga of "Assault With Sandwich" continues, generating more ridicule than fear.
Big day at U.S. District Court in D.C. where Sean Dunn, the D.C. Sandwich Guy, is on trial for misdemeanor assault of a federal officer.

Border Patrol agent Gregory Lairmore is on the stand narrating surveillance video of the sammie toss.

'Now he’s struck me with the sandwich,' Lairmore says.

Forgotten the "meatbag" metaphor years ago, probably cause it's so insulting.

But damn, its undeniable.. current events demonstrate.
Who was it that used to refer to the RW masses as "programmable meatbags"?

They were told inflation is the Most Important Thing, so they dutifully echoed that back. Then they were told immigration is the Most Important Thing, so they swung that way, like a school of fish.

The Internet of Things.

I refuse to buy any product that only works when connected to someone else's server.

My machines should work for me.
Google just stopped support for older Nest thermostats that were working great and had probably a decade more life in them.

Everyone had to buy and install expensive new devices, and their perfectly good old ones are now e-waste.
But while companies might not literally disable their stuff, all they had to do was stop supporting it and we were stuffed. Like when Ferranti went bust in '93 leaving us with an unsupported pathology system. 2/2
