Here’s some good conservation news: the first amphibian crossing tunnel to be built in New Hampshire.

“It’s very exciting for us to see that this community science data, this data that’s been collected by volunteers over many years, is being used to inform lasting conservation solutions.”

Honestly, isn't life hard enough without *gestures* making it all so much harder? Aren't we all allowed some joy, love, food, health, a safe spot place to sleep, a bit of beauty? I would be tired purely from my personal grief, but the levels of extra grief shoveled on us daily feels monumental.

I have never cheered harder for a tiny red dot.
The red dot is a baby North Atlantic right whale trying to migrate up the east coast of the United states.

The blue streaks are fast moving shipping vessels entering and leaving New York City harbor.

One collision and the whale is dead.

We need *mandatory* speed limits for these vessels! 🧪🦑🌍

Condé Nast forgot to renew the trademark for Gourmet and so a group of journalists grabbed it and are relaunching the food magazine as a worker-owned co-op. Love it. [gourmetmagazine.net]

"...I came to understand how folly, mistake, calamitous hubris, neglect, and plain stupidity—could all be weapons in an arsenal to rewild and reforest the Earth, a future waiting in places we mistakenly believe we have irredeemably scarred."
Hi perhaps you would like a little break from the news in the form of an essay about my trip to Centralia, Pennsylvania, the town that’s been on fire since 1962—a place where surprisingly I found a great deal of hope, wonder, and mystery.
The Rebirth of Pennsylvania’s Infamous Burning Town
Sixty years into the fire that left the town condemned, Centralia is now a haven for wild plants and butterflies.

This weekend I gathered with others in unity, I cooked, I baked, I wrote letters, I cried, I screamed, I laughed. I thought about a poem I might write. I took delight in the thought. I took out the trash, moved firewood, swept the floor. I kept at it all.

One Torah, from the Holocaust, was in a glass case and wasn't touched.
