"I can’t think of a single time in history when a heavily armed group of government agents was given carte blanche to wreak havoc and assault the citizenry, under the orders of a megalomaniacal leader, and it didn’t all work out really great," writes columnist @rexhuppke.bsky.social. bit.ly/4r1D2so

In 1938, Nazi Germany launched the Kennkarte ID system, first targeting Jews with red “J” stamps and forced names. By 1939, all Germans over 15 had to carry papers—unexpected by many. What began as racial control became total surveillance.

don't think you can describe an ICE degen better
About the ICE agent who fatally shot a man on New Year’s Eve while off-duty:

A court document "says the ICE agent allegedly whipped his sons with a belt, made homophobic slurs and racist remarks about Black and Latino people and brought a gun to a youth sports game."

For every tariff Trump levies, other nations should do the same with any and all U.S. goods. They should also cut as many business ties as possible with the rogue nation. The longer Trump is allowed to play his stupid games, the worse the world will become.

It's a damn shame that the U.S. allowed Trump's family to settle here. It was possibly the biggest mistake the U.S. has ever made.

Totally not a cult, right?
About a third of all self-described Republicans believe that the US should dispense with democratic process and the holding of elections, if this is what Trump wishes.

Just days after tear gassing a six month old baby and putting him in the hospital, ICE agents abandoned a six year old child in the streets of New Jersey.

They kidnapped her father and left her wandering the neighborhood asking “Where’s Papi?”

This is beyond cruel.

It’s child abuse.

When I lecture to students about how the apparently thriving economy of the 1920s was really a house of cards just waiting to be knocked down, one of the points I stress is how much a small number of the very rich were essentially propping up consumer spending in unsustainable ways
The top 10% now account for nearly half of all consumer spending.

I have the utmost respect for Senator Kaine and Senator Warner but we do not need “coaching” on redistricting coming from a cuck chair in the corner. How about you all stay focused on the fascist in the White House and let us handle redistricting in Virginia. 10-1

ICE isn’t making rare mistakes. This is the point.

When an agency can grab people first and sort out rights later, if they bother at all, everyone is at risk. Citizen or not.
