I'm a pretty basic old fart
Got a call from my son in the occupied territory of Minnesota. He said he is been active in the community, including recently joining the local Democratic Farmer Labor caucus. He and his boyfriend are going to be State delegates at the end of the month. I'm so proud yet so nervous for him.

Had a customer ask me over the phone "you were the older man that came and serviced my house, right?"
I just laughed. I guess "old man" officially describes me now.

I poked my head over at Threads. That is just Twitter-lite, huh?

I don't know if sharing this will work, but Rebmasel is an attorney that does an excellent law podcast and had very interesting TikToks back when I used that site. She has adopted the cutest little cat she named "DUI". It is the most adorable thing ever.

Watching the latest season of "Slow Horses", and this show just really needs more Gary Oldman screen time. Every second of him is just a home run.

As you wish. He is pouting because he does not enjoy wearing clothes.

We ventured forth to Kroger. All roads here are clear. We did see some snow blowing sideways when we were coming home but still zero accumulations anywhere. We are basically a dry hole surrounded by snow for some reason. The possibility we live on a Hellmouth is high.

Nevermind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college:

Hours after it was supposed to start and no snow. We might still get some, but it is starting to feel like we have been had once again.
Looking at 2-6 inches of snow tomorrow. Send help. We don't do well with snow.

This. For those who never watched or even heard of SCTV, go to YouTube or somewhere and find some episodes. Brilliant writing/acting/comedy. Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, so many others.
RIP to Catherine O’Hara. I know most people know her from Home Alone or Schitt’s Creek or the mockumentaries like “Best in Show,” but how she made me and my brother laugh with her characters on SCTV. Godspeed, Margaret Meehan, Parkdale.

Catherine O'Hara!?!? Loved her since the SCTV days. Maybe it is just age, but some of these celebrity deaths just hit like a ton of bricks.

Leeroy wants to be tough. He wants to bark and growl and warn things off....as long as daddy is near by to protect him. He will not investigate anything by himself.

An ICU nurse directing traffic tried to help two women who had been brutalized, and was shot dead in the street. We've seen it. We are all witnesses to the truth.

I knew this was going to be the claim. "He shot first".
Concealed carry is legal in the state of Minnesota
DHS told Fox News the suspect was armed with a gun, which has been recovered by federal agents.

Age sucks. I want to play BG3 today (before the ice storm eats me) but my arthritis is just not letting me. I know I need carpal tunnel surgery but I am never going to able to afford to do it. I just fight through the pain till I can't anymore. Fustrating.

Picked up a car for my wife today, and the finance guy noticed my hoodie and asked "Wheel of Time fan?" We ended up have a good nerdy bonding session over WOT and other sfi/fantasy. I think we Wheelies need like a special handshake or a gang sign.

I'm so glad the refs finally made this game about them.
Refs ain't call shit all day but now calling everything? That's more annoying than anything. If that's DPI, the interception earlier was.

The resturant game in Sylacauga, Alabama has stepped up. We ate a good Mexican resurant yesterday (Barrio Festia), and today we had some really good seafood at Wharf Casual Seafood. Been a while since I have been here and the choices used to be pretty limited.

And I loved all the maps and posters. I would read manuals cover to cover. I would often go to the mall just to admire the game cover art. Good times.
You bought computer games at a STORE. In a MALL. You didn't know what they would have because "release dates" and hype cycles weren't really a thing. You had to decide based on the box copy. Inside were physical manuals, maps, gew-gaws, brochures for other games from the company.
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

In Alabama with him today, and he is in good spirits. They have had him up twice walking, and he did well. The worry tonight is the law grade fever. They said it is not uncommon, but have to keep an eye on it. In the hospital through the weekend, then he goes to rehab.
Came through surgery. Immediately demanded his hearing aids, which is a good sign. When he feels bad he will turn his aids off.
Surgery is tomorrow. A partial hip replacement. Wasn't expecting it this fast but the MRI was worse than anticipated. The good news his cardiologist said he has the heart of a 25 year old. He has always stayed active. Heck, he fell on his daily 5 mile walk.

My wife's dad fell and broke his leg. He is likely going to need surgery, which is a particularly scary at 85. My poor wife is very stressed.
