The pros and cons, and why this hire is so important for the program's direction.

Auburn has paid $51 million in buyouts to its last three coaches. Is it set up for success this time?

This is on point from @johnhollinger.bsky.social on Trae Young, but please don't tell him I said that because he's obnoxious enough without the compliment.

The Hawks have a Trae Young problem. How will they solve it?
The underlying question has grown louder about whether Atlanta could aspire to true contention with Young as a leading man.

"Mr. Braun’s family used a connection to Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to obtain the commutation in January 2021. He is at least the eighth convict to whom Mr. Trump granted clemency during his first term who has since been charged with a crime."
A felon whose sentence President Trump commuted in the final hours of his first term was sentenced to 27 months in prison on Monday after being accused of a range of criminal conduct — including physical and sexual assault — since Trump freed him. nyti.ms/3LSL8nC
Jonathan Braun, Felon Freed by Trump, to Be Sentenced Again in Brooklyn
A Brooklyn federal judge found that Jonathan Braun had violated the rules of his release by assaulting a nanny, swinging an IV pole at a nurse and dodging tolls in luxury cars.

Good start.

Didn't work.

Good morning.
The Falcons under Raheem Morris:
First 9 games: 6-3
17 games since: 5-12

Good time to leave the country.
The #Commanders get blown out by the Lions and fall to 3-7. They've lost 5 straight.

They've lost by at least 3 scores in 4 consecutive games. The last time that happened to the franchise came in 1954.

Not much to say at this point.

Washington heads to Madrid tomorrow.

They’ll draft 5 quarterbacks and all will end up playing for the Browns.
The Jets wanted, and now have, three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, in addition to two first-round picks in 2026.

All the ammunition they need to find the next franchise QB in New York.

If there are local elections in your area, and you haven't voted yet, today would be a good day to exercise your right. They don't get to do this sort of thing in every country, and who knows how much longer we'll get to do it here.

Good morning.

Once more with feeling: the problem was/is not the manager. The problem is the roster. Hiring somebody from the outside does not automatically make things better, though we agree the player contracts will make moves difficult. That’s on AA.
To look at what's gone on the last 3 years and saying "Yep, this is fine. More of this, please," is absolute insanity. There are only so many ways to shake things up when literally the whole club has long term deals. They just wasted a big one.
November 4, 2025 at 3:04 AM
Well, the Hawks are national news. So there’s that.
November 3, 2025 at 11:55 PM
Of course, fans who didn’t like Snitker and wanted a “fresh start” probably won’t like this hire. But I maintain this team’s problems stem largely from the roster, not the manager. The onus is on AA (and ownership) to fix that.
Braves naming Walt Weiss as Brian Snitker’s replacement. Smart baseball guy and good dude. A little surprised GM Alex Anthopoulos didn’t go outside the organization but I have no problem with this hire.

Agree. But "ballpark" size is subjective hah.
With Key, I don't think Tech has to match some of the gaudy offers from other schools, they just have to be in the ballpark. He wants to be here.

Just a…straight-up threat against a media outlet implying that the federal government would retaliate against them?

Just seeing this picture calls for a recap on Freddie Freeman's four years with the Dodgers:
- 2 World Series
- 1 World Series MVP
- 4 All-Star Games
- 1 All-MLB first team
- Reg. season: .310/.391/.516/.907

If he completely fell apart the last 2 years of the contract, would it really matter?
November 3, 2025 at 1:36 PM
Just catching up to this piece by @sethemerson.bsky.social. A worthy topic on The Flats, where Brent Key seems likely on the way to a new contract with a raise and question is whether Georgia Tech can match any outside interest with so many top jobs already open.
www.nytimes.com/athletic/675...
For Brent Key, Clark Lea and others, will the alma mater outweigh the coaching ladder?
Some of the top coaching candidates in this year's cycle could be inclined to remain at their alma maters.
