And not just me: when my husband is not working as a dentist, seeing dozens of patients p/ week, he's volunteering his free time at a band in Edinburgh for no pay where they do many community events, lighten up places w/ Christmas carols and more.

Migrants already volunteer and contribute so much.

Scotland thrives because people choose to make it their home. Migration isn’t something to fear, it’s the lifeblood of our communities and keeps our cities alive, our towns dynamic, and our society forward-looking. It’s one of Scotland’s greatest assets and we should be celebrating that!
The implication from Labour is that we, migrants, don't contribute enough, don't integrate enough, don't work enough.

Meanwhile I've volunteered in political activism for no pay, I've taken Gàidhlig evening classes, I make a living as an artist creating abstract renditions of Scottish landscapes.

Hi - thought I'd introduce myself here!

I'm a Portuguese-born, Scottish-based abstract painter (and lapsed writer) working from Edinburgh since 2015. I'm politically active, live with my husband and our two black cats Scott and Zelda, and became a gym rat over this past year. #art @bsky.art

I live 25 miles from largest onshore wind farm, power is piped down the valley past my town, and we pay the highest standing charges??? We also pay second highest cost of power.
And UKG refuses to change zonal pricing because South England (and London) would need to pay more.

I know there must be a lot of Americans on @bluesky because 'trending' barely covers the rest of the world.
I would quite like a 'trending in other places' category, you know? To kinda see what the rest of the world thinks.
