If you are due to receive a UC, JSA, PIP, ADP payment on the 25th or 26th, you’ll receive it today.

If you are due to receive one on the 1st or 2nd of January, you’ll get it on Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve).

ProPublica spoke to about 150 people who had lived in homeless encampments when cities cleared them out in “sweeps.”

We distributed notecards so people could tell us about the toll in their own words.

So I have incidentally conditioned Bonnie to come up and sit with me when I am taking my THC oil at night. She knows it gives me the munchies and she’s likely to get some biscuits or some of whatever I’m eating.

In what other country in the world are grubby political donors, political failures and bigots given a life-long seat in one of the chambers of parliament, let alone the upper (revising) chamber, with a tax-free payment of £371 every day they decide to turn up?

In a surprise to absolutely no-one, An Garda Síochána (Irish Police force) told MSPs that introducing legislation banning payment for sex has not decreased the number of people advertising sexual services.

This is devastating and exposes, yet again, how far the Home Office has strayed from even the most basic sense of humanity.

Wild to see Vance et al moaning about Canada and Canadian public services considering nearly 70% of all personal bankruptcies in the US are caused by medical debt, with 1 in 3 Americans reporting that they are struggling to pay healthcare bills. Ah yes, the American dream.

This really is vile in the extreme.

People granted asylum in the UK will only be allowed to stay in the country temporarily, in a major change of policy to be announced by the home secretary on Monday.

A judge’s order means more than 600 people arrested by ICE in the Chicago region and held in custody could be released on various conditions but only if they don’t pose a risk to public safety.
Judge says he’ll order release of hundreds of people arrested under feds’ deportation blitz
The 615 detainees are from a list of roughly 1,800 arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Chicago area between June 11 and Oct. 7, and there could be more to come.

The Trump administration tells the Supreme Court it can’t be compelled to fully fund SNAP because paying out the money would “irreparably harm” the government, while SNAP beneficiaries … *won’t* be irreparably harmed by going hungry? The balance of equities here is completely upside down.

Trump really is hardworking. Working hard to make life as difficult as possible for those with the least. People just trying to feed themselves and their families are pawns in Trump’s power play.
NEW: Trump is asking Supreme Court to act by 9:30pm tonight to block the ruling that requires SNAP payments to be made.

Now this, this is journalism. It’s always those with the least who suffer the most when cuts are made.
New — While some states have received SNAP benefits for November and USDA is supposedly pushing through all federal payments soon, that doesn’t erase the psychological terror of the last few weeks.
