Watching Dark Winds, season 2, ep 1. Set the day of the draft lottery, 1971. I sat through the lottery in our dorm room in ‘72. I had a high number but when they called number 1, I heard a scream from the room above. The guy came to the cafeteria drunk later

I had signed up as a candidate for a Norovirus vaccine study. Was well into qualifying when the interviewer asked if I had given blood lately. I give platelets every two weeks. She asked if I would be willing to give it up for the 2-yr study. Nope. Too few blood donors out there.

putting your brights on is actually a terrible idea when it's foggy and you should never have your brights on while driving in the city anyway

Saw on Twitter people bragging about sticking it to the government by using incandescent bulbs, using hot water for clothes, etc. I thought, “Yeah, why save hundreds of dollars a year in energy and maintenance when I can resist regulation?” 🙄 (sarcasm)

Was visiting with an 89 yo friend in memory care today. While she doesn’t remember a lot of people, she remembers me. She said, “People will never forget you.” When I told my wife, she asked, “Is that good or bad?” 😀

Our church building went nut-free a couple of weeks ago and have had a lot of announcements but, of course, at our first potluck since announcing, a couple of people still brought dishes with nuts. Takes time to get everyone on board

A couple of years ago we were having electrical issues, lights dimming, fans slowing. Got our breaker box replaced, which was needed but problem didn’t go away. Electrician said one phase into the house periodically dropped in voltage. Electrician utility guy came out but couldn’t find a problem.

Our 50 yr old cheap steak knives with plastic handles are finally beginning to get cracks in the plastic. We have much nicer ones for meals but these still work great to prep chicken.

Why does every cop show, even internationally, use the cliche that all the good cops are divorced or in bad relationships. Yes, police divorce rate is somewhat higher than the average, but every cop I know has been happily married for many years. Think of some other dramatic tension devices

Does anyone have a fix for this happening? Posts and replies will repeat multiple times. Usually later replies show up first in the feed and will be repeated in part or in whole. Usually the original post shows up last. Makes for very disjointed reading

Apparently people here were not informed that libraries and books are passé. Full parking lot. Used book sale going on. There were lots of people in there not buying books

Does someone on this platform have a recommendation for a Bluesky iPad app? Graysky ends up showing the same posts over and over as connections reply. The Bluesky app is formatted for phones, which defeats the purpose of using a tablet.

Read that Piggly Wiggly was the first US grocery chain to allow customers to pick items off the shelves. Before, you gave a list to a store clerk who picked for you. We’ve come a long way 😀 #ubereats, #shippt, #instacart

I’m back to putting “(sarcasm)” in replies again because there are a lot of people who don’t get it otherwise

Me: New COVID defense!

My barber is going to spend Wed. night at a friend’s and fix Thanksgiving for their family. The friend has MS and recently had an adverse drug interaction, so is too weak to fix dinner. My barber will then go to her son’s house for family Thanksgiving. My new hero!

People give Hamlet a lot of crap for procrastinating but I’ve always believed when a ghost tells you to kill your uncle it’s best to think it over for a few days. 🧐

The asst director of the daycare in our church said the first time she had to take over as director temporarily she got really stressed. She has to do it again soon but isn’t stressed because she learned a lot from the first time. Jobs need to give people time to learn them.
