#OTD 1867, Marie Curie was born.
During WWI, Curie created a vehicle that contained a hospital bed, a generator, an X-ray machine and photographic darkroom equipment. These “petite Curies" (below) could be driven right up to the Front. Curie also helped train 150 women as radiology technicians.

I am going to scream if one more person sends me a schedule but calls it an "itinerary."
itinerary = planned route or journey, or a document recording it. It is from the Latin, "itinerarium," which means route of travel.
Please spread the word!!

…deeply saddened to see this. Zara, you will be missed. This year has taken so much from us.
Zara Weinberg passed away earlier this week. She joined my lab earlier this year when her postdoc lab formally closed.
She was a brilliant scientist, supportive mentor, dear friend, avid music fan, rabid believer in public transit, open science champion, and above all just an amazing human.

Two questions for other NIH "reviewers" out there. If we are ad hoc on a study section that doesn't happen during a government shut down, 1) Do we still get a two week extension to turn our grants in late (since we are actually being told to continue reviewing)?

This semester, for our Plant & Micro Biosci Grad program, I'm developing a new course on ✨Peer Review✨ & critical thinking. Final project is a full review of a preprint!
I'd love to have a journal editor zoom with the class to share their perspective and do a Q&A.
Anyone interested?
