“I’m strong and I want to have like fifty kids and a farm” of course you do. You’re twelve. “I don’t want to eat vegetables I think steak and French fries is the only meal” hell yeah homie you’re twelve. “Maybe if there’s crime we should just send the army” bless your heart my twelve year old buddy

I love The New Yorker so much. This article is on the feet of pigeons. Not a lead-in to some broader topic. Just pigeons and how their feet react to their environment. 5 full pages long.

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

This is a big deal. A lot of games have colourblind options that are just filters and don't work as intended.

This new testing tool allows you to simulate properly in real-time, and highlight where you might be missing areas early enough to potentially fix these issues before it's too late.
Ubisoft released a color blind simulation tool today, called UbiChroma.

The free and open source tool enables developers to test for color blind accessibility issues in real-time. Fitting existing workflows, it can help catch color blind issues early.

“The worry that congestion pricing would turn prime Manhattan business districts into dead zones is belied by new economic data showing pedestrian traffic is up in the borough, including in the ‘congestion zone’ below 60th Street.”

Evidence matters. At least it should, in a sane world.
“Foot traffic at…Broadway and Prince Street in SoHo spiked by 20% year-over-year since the introduction of congestion pricing, said Erin Piscopink, the executive director of the SoHo Broadway Initiative, a business improvement district that represents 150 businesses.”

No they're not. They know exactly what they're voting for: The continued dismantling of our public health system. That's what they want. You know this. Why do we have to do this playacting goldfish brain shit every time.
By voting to confirm RFK Jr., the Senate “is wagering the future of our public health system on a prayer that a conspiracy theorist can build back up the agencies that he and his supporters have spent years breaking down,” Nicholas Florko writes.
RFK Jr. Won. Now What?
America’s health is in the hands of an anti-vaccine conspiracist.

Thank you, DOGE, for clearly visualizing what incredible value the American people get from their national parks. 17,700 permanent employees making an average of $81,000 a year serving 325 million visitors annually.

Is there a better value in the entire federal government?

I'm sure DICE is great this year, and there are some clear highlight moments even just checking in occasionally through the stream - but I'm at the Sydney zoo watching a thunderstorm in the far distance over the city & I don't think I need to be anywhere else right now.

I am so, so tired. And I know you are, too.

Here's “Death blowing bubbles,” 18th century. The bubbles symbolize life's fragility. This plaster work appears on the ceiling of Holy Grave Chapel in Michaelsberg Abbey, Bamberg, Germany. After the monastery’s dissolution, it became a hospital.

IMPORTANT: “Do bike lanes really cause more traffic congestion? Here's what the research says. Studies from around the world show bike lanes ease congestion, reduce emissions and are a boon to businesses.”

And removing them would cost a LOT & make traffic worse. #Toronto
