Last update on Isle Of Avalon for a while, putting the project on pause while I work on a new project. I won't be working alone on the new project so hopefully it will progress quicker than this game.

I will be back at some point and finally release a demo for IOA, this is too fun to abandon.
I added a cheat toggle button so that I can get around faster to test things. Can change it back to regular gameplay as well (I don't know why I haven't added this for 2 years, it took like 5 minutes)

Added a fade around the edges to give them a highlight, makes it easier to see the edge when you are looking down towards more snow.

Also added tri point filtering for my textures today, something that is not an option by default in #Godot - gives it that #N64 vibe

Leg day, doing some squats, how's my form?
(Also spent the day making textures for the pyramid there)

Feeling good about this sky box. I can't draw for shit, but vertex colours feels like a cheat code.

Vertex colour skyboxes are so pretty! (WIP)

When the game's capsule art is so bad that you know it's not ai and you instantly buy it (I don't want to post the image, they probably worked very hard on it).

It's been 8 months since I posted in here, what have I done since? ... fuck all really. Having kids and a full time job makes this very hard but coming back here always gives me motivation.

#dkgame #gamedev 🎮: Spent some time converting one of @minionsart.bsky.social awesome shaders from Unity to Godot! Find original here: www.patreon.com/posts/quick-...

It's not as good as their shader is, but it's still cool!

Just wanted to say that everyone should be playing Metro Gravity (just came out yesterday). It's a gravity bending metroidvania where the combat is a rhythm game. It's awesome! store.steampowered.com/app/2986450/...
Metro Gravity on Steam
Explore, fight, solve puzzles and bend gravity to escape the dream-like world of the Halls! Metro Gravity is a mind-boggling musical adventure with rhythmic combat and compelling lore.

One of my youtube videos tripled its views in 24 hours from 1k to 3k, but not a single comment, this normal? I don't upload to youtube that much (nor do I get that many views lol)

Ocean water shader
+ Added caustics to the ocean floor and used the second uv channel to add a mask for where the waves meet the shore to make them brighter. 🌊
I think it's finished now

Vibin' out to my new ocean water shader 🏖️

Made a new water shader based on the water from Super Mario Sunshine/Galaxy. It's still crazy to me that this is all just based on a couple of noise textures, no lighting or anything.

Always thinking that my game will never look as good as those that I take inspiration from. Did they think the same thing when developing their game? Will people think the same about my game when it's released?

Gotta learn to be okay with good enough.

Trying to not go a week without posting progress so here is my tutorial level with some flowing water and a tree. Most of my work this week has been on sound effects but I can't be bothered to make a video right now so here's a screenshot.

My game needed a safe, low stress environment to teach the basic mechanics, so I created a little tutorial island

Finally added some particles and sound effects. Even just minimal stuff such as this makes astronomical returns in gameplay feel.

I added the ability to jump out of a roll (in a 0.2 sec time frame) for extra height. Not sure if there will be much of a use case considering Chakram jumping gives far more height, but at least you don't have to put the Chakram down first, maybe this is something speedrunners can use to min max

Cooking up some animations for my boi. I'm not a pro but I'm pretty happy so far

Dynamic tail test
Godot 4.4 is absolutely goated for this.

Still working on collision, but it's so fun to just wiggle about and surprisingly easy to implement.
