Big fan of planet earth. She/her. I work in municipal climate action and on the weekends I walk in the woods.

We often get asked, "What can I *personally* do to help address climate change?"

Sadly, there hasn't been a very good answer to this question. Previous guides often treated people as monoliths, providing a one-size-fits-all answer.

But that's all changed, thanks to SHIFT.

Excellent take-down here of renewable natural gas, and the bonus claims about it made by FortisBC.

B.C. has a math problem with renewable natural gas
B.C. consumers aren't getting the whole story about renewable natural gas. Very little of that RNG is actually produced and consumed in the province.

“What he wants is to see a total collapse of the Canadian economy, because that'll make it easier to annex us." This is the most extraordinary statement by a Canadian prime minister in the history of this country. The Trump administration is at war with Canada.

Pete Hegseth just reportedly ordered the US military’s Cyber Command to “stand down” from all planning against Russia. Analysts have been ordered not to follow or report on Russian threats.

One inside source said, “Putin is on the inside now.”

Foodies in BC: what’s a local substitute for lemon zest? Do we have some kind of pine needle or herb or berry? I know I can use vinegar for lemon juice, but am wondering about zest. #localfood #buybc

If only we had an effective vaccine that prevents measles, what is now the largest measles outbreak in the State's history in 30 years would be swiftly resolved 🙄.

At least 49 cases have been confirmed. Health officials — who are scrambling to get a handle on the vaccine-preventable outbreak — suspect 200 to 300 people may be infected.

Conflicted about the US-Canada fight. I'm registered with a Canadian First Nation, and enrolled in a US tribe. Our culture straddles the border. So, fully boycotting the US isn't an option. These countries are both foreign impositions on us. Both have harmed us. But obviously one is worse. 1

Apparently all the PhD researchers holding prestigious NSF-funded research fellowships are having their salaries withheld until some unspecified time when the leadership figures out how to eliminate any grant funding that doesn’t align with the president’s political ideology.
It’s official: all funding requests made on Tuesday by postdocs for their salaries have been unilaterally rejected by NSF.
