A must read. It’s all happening so drastically & dreadfully fast (…and meanwhile, insanely, life seems to go on in a twilight zone of apparent normalcy for many), it can be hard to see the bigger picture. Might we just barely escape this? Possibly, but more and more unlikely with each passing day.
If you live in the US, you are in greater jeopardy today than you were 6 months ago. So is your family. So are your friends & neighbors. Virtually all the important parts of the U.S. gov't created to protect us are being shut down, gutted, or marginalized. My latest. newrepublic.com/article/1968...
We Better Pray That No Unexpected Crisis Hits While Trump Is President
It’s a world exploding with crises waiting to happen. Donald Trump has made us less prepared for every one of them.

Not to mention arresting a sitting judge and refusing to comply with a judgement from the Supreme Court.
In just the past 24 hours, the Trump regime has escalated their push towards authoritarianism dramatically:

- Miller threatens to suspend Habeas Corpus
- ICE arrests Newark Mayor
- RFK Jr announced the formation of a database of autistic people

We need to prepare mass mobilizations.

So just to recap:

1. The reciprocal tariffs aren't reciprocal. The rates announced by Trump are unrelated to the tariffs charged by other countries.

Imports from Brazil, which imposes relatively high tariffs, will face lower rates than countries that impose little or no tariffs on US goods.

You use the officials USGovt secure channels to hide communications from bad actors. You use Signal to hide communications from the USGovt.
As I explain here, security isn't even the biggest part of the Signal Scandal. This is to keep actions secret from the US government. It's how to do crimes, bribes and more. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/signa...

This is one of the most egregious unprecedented breaches of national security in my lifetime. This is what happens when you have a cabinet of completely incompetent people. Who’s only qualifications are you are a sycophant.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Read this declaration. A professional soccer player has been imprisoned in El Salvador and forced into hard labor on the basis of soccer-related tattoos and a single, innocent hand gesture.

This is why the administration is withholding due process. It knows its targets could prove their innocence.

I'm not generally a "the MSM is the heart of the problem" guy, but it does strike me that a screaming New York Times banner headline reading "TRUMP CLAIMS TO REVOKE BIDEN-ERA PARDONS" would be both appropriate to the moment and entirely consistent with pre-Trump NYT practices.

Fuck you, Chuck
Chuck Schumer, the top Democrat in the Senate, just caved—again.

His support for the Republican CR plan isn’t leadership; it’s surrender. He’s not fighting for the American people. He’s propping up policies that will hurt us.

@schumer.senate.gov please reconsider your insane decision to vote for a GOP poison budget. I promise you that this will end your career. If you vote for this I will do everything in my power to remove you from office.

Schumer wants us to believe Senate Dems are powerless while literally providing the votes to ensure the GOP agenda goes forward.

If a shutdown was better for Trump, the House GOP wouldn't have passed this CR and the Senate GOP wouldn't vote for it.

Schumer knows that; he's outright lying to us.
Schumer: "For sure, the Republican bill is a terrible option. It is not a clean CR. It is deeply partisan. It doesn't address far too many of this country's needs. But I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option."

Chuck Schumer needs to step down as leader. He clearly isn't lock in step with majority of democrats. This is bad. Im so angry with his caving. Listen shutdowns suck but this "CR" sucks even more and it's not even a clean funding bill. Pathetic.
