People are not alone in suffering through the withholding of SNAP benefits. If you can donate a tin of dog or cat food, or a bag of bird seed, I promise you - there is somebody who is going hungry right now, and who will use it to ensure their companion does not.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Both flags have been refreshed, as they each got pretty natty over the summer (I really need to trim back the landscape bushes beneath), and the pole is back at full mast.

And a happy Black Cat Day to my own parlor panther, Ulysses. He is an alumni of the cat rescue I have volunteered with for 15 years (same one housing Midnight, posted earlier this evening). He vexes me a great deal sometimes, but I still wake up every morning with him curled behind my knees. 🐈⬛ ❤️
