Purple bacteria update - sadly it failed in our phenotypic screen - so no purple concrete on the horizon, but the undergrads and I wanted to know what it was - Janthinobacterium spp. - meaning violet. It is Gram neg and produces pigments that are purple/violet called jagaricin and violacien. 💜

Grant rejection tradition - (should be a choc almond croissant, but they hadn’t made them 😡)Very sad that I wrote probably my best grant ever, reviewers had barely any criticism, but there’s just not enough money at BBSRC. The minor criticism from panel has received a WTF from everyone I’ve told 🤷🏼‍♀️
