Some people complain there’s too much polling in this life, but what is voting intention in the after life? Reform leads among both those who think they’d go to heaven & those who think they’d go to hell. Though their lead grows from 6 to 20 among (self selected) denizens of hell

Striking that the figure below has provoked much less response than @simonhix.bsky.social's preceding call for an electoral threshold in NL
It raises the genuine question how much fragmentation a party system can afford
The response can't just be: this is how we do things in NL

a few more thoughts:
What better to way to spend a Friday PM than calculating ENPV in NL?

=>
1. Dutch voters have no problem coordinating in EP elections, where the effective threshold is 3.1% (100 / 31+1);
2. The party system would still be fragmented in the TK with a 4% threshold, but with fewer parties overall.

For the @euobserver.com, Hannah Kriwah has written about our study, and I had the pleasure to comment on it.

Why the EU’s democratic deficit persists
Pro-EU MEPs have long pursued a logic of democratisation based on institutional mimicry. But as Jan Pieter Beetz, Gilles Pittoors and Wouter Wolfs argue, this path has become ideologically entrenched ...

How is anyone going to do the work that leads up to those big grants? You need loads of small bits of financial support for most humanities research (or, well, job security and non-overload with teaching & admin but 🤷‍♀️) and to support the groundwork. Only massive grants skew the research environment.
'“We need a more long-term strategic partnership,” he said, noting that this could mean fewer but larger grants being awarded across the research landscape.' 2/3
