Working to make European democracy work. "Refreshingly free of the usual platitudes". Belge par choix, Brits door opvoeding, Polish roots. President of Demsoc.org
Last night’s film was Skiff, a 🇧🇪 queer coming-of-age story by Cecilia Verheyden. Overall decent but what really stood out was the performance of Femke Vanhove as lead character Malou. Gave me strong Tilda Swinton in Orlando vibes. See it if you get the chance. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSv_...

Ah, it’s not the Member States who have spent the last few decades blocking all meaningful progress on a range of reforms who need to get serious, but the Commission, which doesn’t even have a vote on these issues. Right.
EU countries are piling pressure on the European Commission to get serious about turning around the bloc’s sluggish economy, amid fears it could be left at the mercy of other big players like the U.S. and China.

Welcome to Blue Labour who fantasise about a working class that hasn’t existed for decades and long for an economic policy that was divorced from reality when Benn first suggested it, never mind now.

The Downing Street chief of staff's job just can't be 'winning the election'. That's someone else's job! It would be like if someone went 'he was ruthlessly focussed on cost control in Whitehall's canteens'....okay, but that's *someone else's job*!

Early start for Liège to drop in on a work event but the reward of an hour reading in a sunny café waiting for @dzyrl.bsky.social. Then an afternoon at the Grand Curtius museum which is as extensive as its name suggests.

Singapore as a model has faded away in the U.K.
Not doable in Belgium either.

Politicians have to craft some visions. De Wever argues for scale and proposes to reconstitute the Spanish Netherlands, sans Espagnole, with LU as a single state.

The outlets so far, as far as I can see, are reporting this as a single event.

It is not.

It's the Third time at least Reform have run this.

Patricia Clegg is a real person, but what they did with her letter, is Reforms work.

They blamed the Printer, the Printer has apologised.

Good public services are good politics, and good for democracy. “Cost recovery” of this sort is spoiling the ship for a pennyworth of tar.
“I graduated with £42,000 of debt and even though I’m paying it off, it’s now £72,000.”

It's truly an abomination: On a normal job you keep paying forever. 40 years!

“Why would I trust a government that mis-sold me a loan when I was a child?” is a very good question.

to me this is one of the craziest things in these texts. Epstein set up meetings with board members of Open Society Foundation, the Soros group, dangling his money but using the meetings as intelligence gathering opportunities. He would then pass on strategy tips to Bannon, to help him destroy OSF.
Epstein was a scheming bastard, goddamn. He met with OSF board members acting like he was going to give them money but never did and never intended to. The meetings were intelligence gathering opportunities and he passed on his wisdom to Bannon, who intends to destroy OSF.
