I mean this is just the culmination of 40 years of western corporations and governments perfecting the art of escaping responsibility.
In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

It is the latest in a series of cyber-attacks on large companies in Australia involving the personal information of millions of Australians, after the attack on Optus, Medibank and, most recently, Australia’s $4t superannuation sector.

One thing I’ve been thinking about too that isn’t in this weekend read is that customer loyalty programs by their very nature are designed to collect massive amounts of information on people to build profiles on them. They’d be quite lucrative.
Every owner, director and family member of owners and directors of this centre should be banned for life from ever owning, running or being employed by any business that receives government funding.

Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."

Torn on this one. I love that it engaged people with the issues, especially young people. But, I stopped watching years ago and wonder if others did too?
