This is a real image of what a new solar system looks like.

The light from the central star is blocked, so it's possible to see the lanes of cleared-up dust around it.

And that small, yellowish blob at lower right?

That's a whole, brand new planet.

The Luddites were not against technology per de; they were against technology that devalued their work.

And they certainly weren’t unfamiliar with technology.

We should all be Luddites vis a vis AI.
I've been thinking a lot about how I really hate the implication that AI skeptics are luddites because most of the AI skeptics I know are relatively tech savvy while the biggest AI champions I know can barely use email

Across the country, stories are under attack: books banned, archives erased, and critical funding slashed.

Organizations, including Voice of Witness, have had funding terminated by federal agencies.

This is a view looking down on a portion of Saturn's rings.

Find the white structures along the edge of the ring, near the top.

Now look at their shadows, cast on the rings themselves just below them.

Those white structures are giant towers of icy ring particles, some rising more than 2 km.

Please share. If we get 50 shares we'll post a video of #CuratorRob playing a hoover like a didgeridoo.

Years ago, in an undergrad class, we read Robert Paxton’s Anatomy of Fascism. At the time, I couldn’t understand how the intelligensia—the scholars, the educated, the socially and politically conscious people of a nation—were rendered powerless in the face of Nazism.

I understand now.

That's my lunch break gone down a rabbit hole of some brilliant responses to this chain 😂

Check it out ... but make sure your cup/glass is 1/2 full/empty of a beverage before you start!
Optimist: the cup is 1/2 full

Pessimist: the cup is 1/2 empty

Swede: it’s lagom
Optimist: the cup is ½ full

Pessimist: the cup is ½ empty

Community Engagement Consultant: how can we get more people to enjoy the half full cup and how can we get the people that think the cup is half empty to see the cup as half full.
