ICE has already spent $172 million to purchase two warehouses, one in Hagerstown, MD and one in Surprise, AZ.

ICE will then have to pay more to convert them into makeshift detention camps. Leaked reports suggest each of these two warehouses will hold 1,500 people each.

Trusting Josh's reporting, I'll take this on its terms.

What could it mean?

DOJ Civil Rights Division has been demolished under Harmeet Dhillon, but she did start a “Second Amendment Section,” so I am wondering if they are investigating whether agents violated Pretti's Second Amendment rights.
JUST IN: DAG Todd Blanche suggested Alex Pretti shooting is under investigation by DOJ's Civil Rights Division, which indicates it is not being treated as an assault on federal officer but as a potential civil rights violation by the officers who shot Pretti.

Career DOJ prosecutors in both Minnesota and Los Angeles refused to be involved in charging Don Lemon and the other journalists who covered the Minneapolis church protests.

The prosecutors believe the evidence does not support the charges, per @carolleonnig.bsky.social.

Jesus Christ. The "pivot" lasted about 15 minutes.

Arresting a black journalist under the Ku Klux Klan Act for covering a pro-immigration protest at a Christian nationalist church led by an ICE officer is the perfect encapsulation of this administration's authoritarianism, racism, and trolling.
NEWS: The Trump regime has arrested Don Lemon in its latest crackdown on journalism after he reported from inside a church protest in Minnesota—despite a magistrate judge previously rejecting the case against him as unsupported by evidence.

The American dream is not going hungry. Of course, the cruelty of making 1.75 million people do just that is the point.

Brooke Rollins doesn't look to have missed any meals. Funny how that works.
Brooke Rollins: "The American dream is not being on a food stamp program. The American dream is not being on all these programs. That should be a hand up, not a handout. As of yesterday, we have moved 1.75 million people off of SNAP."

Might be my personal bias, but the call for a 'Team Canada' approach, linked to external trade agreements and the aim for reducing internal trade barriers, sounds eerily similar tovon der Leyen's rhetoric of 'Team Europe', the EU's extension of free trade agreements and completing the single market.
To unlock the full potential of our new trade agreements, we need a Team Canada approach.
