I’m late to it—there are already several episodes—but this is a gripping, infuriating, and much-needed podcast on the human cost of the War on Drugs.
The first episode of Collateral Damage, my reported podcast with The Intercept, went up today.

Hope you’ll check it out and, if you enjoy it, give it a favorable rating or review.

Eternal thanks to my producers @lauraflynn.bsky.social and Andrew Stelzer for making it happen.

The idea that a remotely mainstream Democratic policy agenda item is "abolish the police" or "abolish prisons" is deeply unserious.
even the democratic consultants are evaluating the democratic party according to the caricatures put out by republican-aligned media
Incredible to claim that “abolish the police” is in any way a Democratic policy

this feels completely banal? yes, a big tent political party is going to include voters who have bigoted views. i don’t think anyone has argued otherwise? the actual question at hand is “to what extent should a political party ostensibly committed to equality appeal to popular prejudices?”

I cannot have another conversation about transphobia being a result of people pushing too hard for civil rights. I will scream.
I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong.

Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.
